Hey Linda and everyone. Happy snow day! I need some feedback so here we go!
The first sketch:
Being brought to finish in a way I felt too cold, and was unhappy with:
Testing to see if I could make things feel a little less sterile and stark:
And where I've come to at this point in a test:
Anything that's not smooth here I am planning on smoothing out and making look sharp. So I like where this is going, but I'm not 100% happy with it quite yet. I feel like it's not quite there yet, and I'm worried that my novice foray into the world of background's is looking sort of amateurish. What do you guys think?

Lindsay - this is looking really good. I think you could work on the scale and shapes of the windows in the background. Thin out the black lines between the panes and play a little with the pink & blue colors in the windows - the yellow is a better direction. You could also modify the building color - less black - try some deep grays (then you might lighten the sky color a bit). The type on the store sign could be more contrasting - maybe a reddish violet color. This is definitely on a good track and close to resolved!
ReplyDeleteI agree with everything Linda said.
ReplyDeleteWhat about a gradient for the sky? And twinkly stars?
